About
The ancient art of listening
Lectio Divina — prayerful reading — is a monastic practice more than fifteen hundred years old. It is not about studying the Bible, but about letting the Word read us, touch us, transform us.
I
Lectio — Read
Read the text calmly, once or twice. Let a word or phrase find you.
II
Meditatio — Meditate
Ruminate on that word. What is God saying to you through it today?
III
Oratio — Pray
Respond to God from the heart. Praise, request, surrender — whatever arises.
IV
Contemplatio — Contemplate
Rest in silence. Nothing to do. Simply be before the One who loves you.
«I did not come to bring new words, but to teach you to listen to the old ones.» — inspired by St. Benedict
